On the information section of a rapid alcohol screening product the manufacturer says it needs to be conducted by trained personnel. Is there specific training that is needed for state/federal requirements or is it sufficient for it to be administered by the occupational health nurse on-site?

Good question Kelly.
You do not state whether this is a moderate or waived test. If the test is considered moderately complex, the technical consultant should be the one to train your laboratory staff. If the test is waived, then the Occupational Health nurse should contact the manufacturer to receive training for this test and then it would be acceptable for her to train other staff members. You may want to contact your state CLIA office to see if there are any additional requirements other than the training requirements recommended by CLIA.
